More Energy Equals Getting More Things Done

More Energy Project Day #34 – 41

It has been a busy week, but I still manage to stay in a good mood. Today I’m tired but in general I feel more success than usual. It seems that my increased energy level leaves me with a feeling of getting things done.

When you experience your energy level decrease then you get caught up in a bad circle that is difficult to turn around. I think that my project is actually helping me to see a way out of this bad circle of decreasing energy.

In chinese medicine practitioners operate with the law of five elements. These elements are all influenced by each other in either a negative or a positive way. The law of five elements (Wu Xing) is a good model to show how the circle of energy works.

When I am out of balance then my life is influenced by negative things. By choosing to bring positive influencers into my life I can take action to turn the circle around and make the energy flow in a positive direction.

Apparently all aspects of life has either a positive or negative affect on my energy; that is why I have to identify the things I need to balance my life.

I found an interesting article about the yin-yang balance that show what foods to eat and how to identify whether you have a yin or a yang imbalance.

 

 

Eating Late Upsets Your Body

More Energy Project Day #12

Another long day at work, but having a dinner to look forward to kept me going.

Although dinner with my colleagues were fantastic and energizing in the moment it ended up upsetting my body. Eating a large meal after 19.00  (7 pm) is not a good idea; especially not if it contains a large amount of protein, fat and alcoholic drinks. I ended the meal with a very good cup of coffee.

The result was that I woke up at about 3 o’clock with heartburn and headache. By eating late I’m forcing my digestive organs to work at hours where they should be resting. My liver cannot process that amount of fat and protein in the middle of the night. The caffeine disturbs my nervous system and makes it difficult to sleep.

 

Oatmeal for Breakfast

More Energy Project Day #11

When I woke up this morning I knew it would be a tough day. I thought it would be a good idea to eat a proper breakfast to ensure good energy for the rest of the day … or at least till noon.

I had oatmeal with soy milk and fresh apple. With that I had a good strong cup of coffee. It kept me going at work untill 10 o’clock. Then I had a piece of bread and another cup of coffee.

The rest of the day I had to keep my energy by keeping positive thoughts; the afternoon was really hard.

I’m surprised how much energy an apple and oatmeal contains. Some while ago I wrote an article of ways to improve your breakfast.

Sweet Caffeine!

More Energy Project day #6

I’m at work and I started with a good strong cup of coffee. I have to make advantage of this caffeine trip that usually lasts for a couple of hours.

According to the article on ZenHabits caffeine should be used wisely because too much caffeine can have the opposite effect and will drain your body for energy.

A rule of thumb: Avoid caffeine eight hours before bedtime.

Caffeine stays in your body for about eight hours. Usually you only feel the effect for a couple of hours, but if you have caffeine in you body at bedtime, then it will disturb your sleep and that’s not good for your energy.

I try to get to bed about 22.00 (10 pm) but I usually don’t sleep before 23.00 (11 pm). That means I should not drink coffee after 14.00 (2 pm).

Coffee tastes good and it really gives me a kick, but it would be great if I could have this kick without drugging myself with caffeine. My experience is that the less coffee I drink the higher the kick is when I take a cup of coffee.

Energy below zero

Day #5 in my More Energy Project.

Energy level: Very very low; tired all day

I don’t think I did anything to increase my energy level. I did not sleep well because our son had fever and was coughing all night.

I’m writing this although I should have written it yesterday, but I was too tired.

Come to think about it – I did do something; I watched television with my son and we both enjoyed that. I also found the energy to take care of my son.
