Picture yourself sitting in a big car driving along some sunny beach enjoying your freedom; or picture yourself in a small car on your way to shop downtown; or picture yourself having roasted duck on a special occasion with your loved ones.

You have probably experienced the feeling of picturing yourself in a desired situation. It is almost is if you were there; it is like a dream, and when you break out of the dream reality hits you like fist of dark clouds. You sigh and carry on with business as usual.

But why dismiss the picture of you in a desired situation? If you want something the first step on the path is to imagine how it is. You need to picture yourself in that situation and get the feeling of being there. Then ask yourself what you can do to get there. What actions can you take to get what you dream of?

You are reading this article because you want to improve your self-confidence and I will show you how to visualise self-confidence. First of all you need to relax; find a quiet place and try to clear your mind; imagine that you are on a beach or another scenery that makes you feel comfortable. Now think of a person the have the qualities of confidence you desire; examine this person in your mind and discover what it is that makes this person seem self-confident.

What does this person do and how does this person behave and act? After discovering the characteristics of this person then pick a situation you have to deal with and imagine how this person would deal with it. Now you can adopt the characteristics of this person and do the same.

In my own personal development I chose a couple of role models. I had one for attitude, a different one for behaviour and another for appearance. I examined these people to see what I liked about them and I tried it out on myself to see if those traits and actions would fit my personality.

  1. Relax and clear your mind.
  2. Imagine a role model
  3. Examine your role model and visualise yourself having some of this role model’s characteristics.
